Cognitive Function

Acronym(s): COG

Description: Questions derived from the Mini-Cog test, a 3-minute instrument to screen for cognitive impairment. The Mini-Cog uses a three-item recall test for memory and a simply scored clock-drawing test (CDT). The latter serves as an “informative distractor,” helping to clarify scores when the memory recall score is intermediate. Administered to SHOW participants 21-74.

Health History

Description: The HH1 section provides specific information relating to the respondent’s diagnosed health conditions and medical treatment; the HHQ2 section provides specific information relating to the respondent’s diagnosed health conditions, medical treatment, and family history of disease.

From 2008-2013, Health History was asked as 2 separate surveys (HH1 & HH2), starting in 2014, HH1&HH2 were combined into a single questionnaire (HH1).

Reproductive Health

Description: The Reproductive Health (RHQ) section provides specific information relating to female reproductive health including questions about hormone use, pregnancy, and maternity. It also includes questions about common screening tests that have been recommended for women at different ages by a variety of health organizations. The Respiratory Health for Minors (RHM) section provides specific information on minors’ asthma history and treatment and eligibility to complete spirometry.
